Obviously a sprinkler head that has not been used much. But there are three tiny sprouts braving the dryness. This was taken behind a strip center on my walk. At one time, the contractor or the owner saw the potential of this area to be a garden, and planted things along its length. They are mostly dead and gone, though one picture a month or so ago was of a beautiful flower struggling to exist. Plants do not give up easily, at least not as easily as the people who see no profit in gardens. I take this way to avoid the commercialism on the other side. Low grade pizza, beauty supplies, cigarettes, discount this and that. Even a rundown garden is more beautiful. Even parched sand and sprinkler heads.
